Hockey
Moms and Dads are the Key to The Hockey Smarts Method
of Learning!
The
Hockey Smarts was
originally written for a team of 13-year olds in the
form of a type-written, hand-bound manual. Each player
was given a manual and asked to read it from cover
to cover, which they did. Some parents, however were
interested enough to also read the manual which they
found to be very informative and helpful in that they
were able to understand what was needed to know about
sportsmanship, offensive and defensive hockey and
positional situations. The
Hockey Smarts is for young players
up to and including the age of 16 years.
By
both child and parent reading and understanding what
they must know to become a smart hockey player, a
certain chemistry evolves. The young player would
gain confidence in their performance, would become
a team player and a good sport and would have a winning
attitude. The parent would gain respect from their
child and a wonderful bonding would occur.
All
of this would help the coach to focus on the on-ice
hockey skills and the strategy of the game. "Every
coach's dream is to play as a team!"
The
result is harmony and a common ground of understanding
between child, parent and coach. This would be similar
to school work where the parents help the child with
reading and homework and in that way the teacher can
evaluate the child to a higher learning level.
That
is what The Hockey Smarts
is all about! Kids First and Having Fun!
If
all parents read The Hockey
Smarts with their children, Oh what a wonderful
world it would be.
The
Hockey Smarts Method
of Learning really works!

Flyers Pepsi Shootout Competition. Mite teams from
the Delaware Valley Hockey League (DVHL) competed
in a breakaway competition between periods of an Flyers
NHL hockey game in Philadelphia, PA. In this clip
Geordie Lukas (grandson of Joseph Lukas) representing
the Quakers hockey team scores 2 goals to advance
his team to the semi-final round. Geordie and his
teammate, Sage Wronowski (Goalie), went on to win
the Pepsi Shootout finals to give the Quaker mites

Mission Statement
Our
mission is to help young players (boys and girls)
develop character, confidence, sportsmanship and life
skills while having fun playing hockey.
We
are dedicated to young players, their players and
coaches as well as to the game of hockey.
We
realized a printed hockey reference handbook covering
the basics of hockey knowledge and a code of ethics
would be an invaluable guide to young hockey players.
We
discovered that when parents read The
Hockey Smarts, there was a definite
benefit to both child and parent.
